In the past, one or two pitches of thread were often visible on the shackle pin next to the threaded shackle eye. Earlier design, after assembly some of the threading is visible at the shackle eye:
Today, we machine a small chamber in the treaded eye of all our Green Pin® shackle bodies for screw pin shackles.
The thread is now fully covered by the shackle eye, leaving the bearing surface of your shackle pin entirely smooth. This is good news for your counter components like soft slings or steel wire ropes: they can no longer be damaged by any threading on the shackle pin.
This modification is fully incorporated in our product designs, meaning the products comply with all standards and certifications mentioned in our catalogue.
